ON Semiconductor’s South Portland Wafer Fab is looking for an Experienced Equipment Technician interested in Night Shift! This position requires a flexible schedule, and the willingness to work rotating 12 hour shifts, 3 nights on/3 nights off. Our Equipment Maintenance Technicians are responsible for multiple activities in support of manufacturing including the  maintenance of semiconductor equipment,  processes and measurement tools used in the manufacturing of semiconductor devices. 

These repairs and procedures are performed in an environment where toxic gas, acids, solvents, high voltage, and kinetic energy hazards exist, so the incoming technician would need to be comfortable working around chemicals in a fast-paced industrial setting. However, our employees’ safety is our number 1 priority; we will provide safety training on the job!

Job Conditions:
  • Working hours: Night shift, from 6:00pm to 6:00am, alternating between 3 days and 4 days per week
  • Initial work hours would involve training 8:00am to 5:00pm, 5 days per week for 4 to 10 weeks.
  • Work is performed within a clean room environment that requires the wearing of a smock, hood, booties, latex gloves, and safety glasses.
  • Requires the use of airline respirator.
  • Requires occasional wearing of personal protective equipment including, but not limited to, aprons, gauntlets, and full face masks.
  • Requires standing for up to 75% of shift
  • Requires lifting of objects that weigh up to 50 lbs
  • May require work with hazardous gases, chemicals, and voltages up to 90 kilovolts.
  • Job Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and repair electromechanical systems that include servo motors and controllers, stepper motors and controllers, AC motors and controllers, and DC motors and controllers.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electro-pneumatic systems that include solenoid valves, gate valves, high vacuum isolation valves, and pneumatic logic circuits.
  • The completion of all scheduled and unscheduled preventative maintenance and repair procedures in a timely, accurate, and safe manner.
  • Writing technical procedures
  • A safety-minded approach is required: employees  must  be able to learn, understand and follow all safety documentation, specs and protocol, including LOTO. Must also be able to identify any/all safety concerns and regulatory violations in order to eradicate them.
  • The ability to consistently take initiative and drive one’s own work at a high level, and demonstrate advanced leadership skills for small teams.
  • Be cross-trained in other areas as needed
  • Train new hires as needed
  • Qualifications

  • Electrical/mechanical aptitude
  • Comfort handling chemicals, including acids, bases, and solvents
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical issues
  • Ability to read electrical schematics
  • Ability to use digital multimeters and voltage supplies
  • Experience with Lock Out-Tag Out
  • Ability to work night shift on a 3 on/3 off compressed work week schedule
  • Radio Frequency (RF) energy generation and Plasma knowledge  highly preferred
  • Vacuum experience is  highly preferred
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work well in a collaborative environment, and as part of a team
  • The flexibility to work outside of normal schedule, cross train, (learn more than one job or operation) and multi-task as needed.
  • Education:
  • An Associate's Degree in Electrical Engineering Technologies or Electromechanical Technologies or Military Equivalent, or other relevant equipment maintenance education/experience.
